Be active on tween deck
The tween deck was used for cargo and this was not a space for the crew during the Pommern’s voyages. In the exhibition Pommern –100 days under sail you learn more about life aboard on and try out different activities.
FROM SAILMAKING TO DANCING
On tween deck you participate in work and leisure aboard. Here you learn more about provisioning and sail making, about the equatorial baptism as well as celebrate the Pommern’s arrival in London with dancing on deck.
There are altogether eight activity stations on tween deck.
EIGHT BELLS
The ship’s bell on Pommern struck every half hour. The strike of the bell followed the watches and at eight bells it was time for the crew to change watches.
Part of the Pommern – 100 days under sail exhibition is the installation “Eight Bells” on tween deck. Each bell is dedicated to one of the eight Pommern Gold Partners.
Discharged last cargo, adjusted ballast and taken in provisions. The crew has worked hard so I granted them tonight’s distraction. My wife Rut and I participated in the dance.
